Samara Center for Biblical Training (Russia)
SCBT is committed not only to training a generation of spiritual leaders, but to developing a strong faculty of indigenous trainers who will carry the baton into the future.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you” (Matthew 28:19-20)
The ministry of Samara Center for Biblical Training (SCBT) is made up of four basic efforts:
The theological training of SCBT forms the foundation of the ministry in Samara. The first level of training is a two-year part time program that trains pastors and church leaders in expository preaching. The second level of training is a three-year, full-time program which further equips the students in the areas of expository preaching, theology, biblical languages, and pastoral ministry. The goal of SCBT is to train faithful men who will then be able to train others in the effective preaching and teaching of God’s Word.
One of the ways that we can minister to pastors and church leaders in and outside of our region is through conferences. SCBT hosts numerous conferences throughout the year, aimed at providing leaders with encouragement, training, fellowship, and exhortation from the Scriptures.
In response to the high demand for solid, God-honoring materials, SCBT has begun translating vital resources into Russian and providing these resources to the Russian speaking pastors, church leaders, and Christians, in general. Because the Russian church is lacking in serious and sound tools, SCBT has been able to equip many believers by translating numerous books as well as John MacArthur’s Grace to You DVD’s.
Pastor and Church Planter Support
Some of the men who are trained at SCBT fulfill pastoral roles immediately after graduating – some in established churches and others in church plants. For those pastors who plant churches, SCBT provides financial and practical support in order to grow the church to the point where its members are able to sustain it.
“I have been privileged to make four trips to Samara, Russia to work with the Samara Center for Biblical Training. Having personally seen and participated in the work there, I can tell you first hand the work of training pastors is being successfully accomplished in a God-honoring manner. I am not aware of a more effective ministry that is equipping national pastors to preach the Word than SCBT. I highly commend this work to you for preparing the next generation of biblical expositors in Eastern Europe.”
Dr. Steve Lawson
Pastor, Christ Fellowship Baptist Church
“My evaluation of the work in Samara can be summarized in a single thought: An undiminished legacy of biblical truth and ministry methodology has been handed down to the saints in Russia. The work there is a living illustration of 2 Timothy 2:2 – ‘The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.’ The adjective ‘undiminished’ is absolutely essential to understanding the meaning of my summary. The training center in Samara is a faithful replica of The Master’s Seminary in that the instructors and students hold to the same basic convictions—specifically, the inerrancy and sufficiency of the Scriptures, the necessity of Christ-centered expository preaching, and biblical counseling. The absence of gimmicks and shortcuts is obvious. Men are being taught to live right and work hard to bring God’s Word to God’s people.”
HeartCry Missionary Society
“My eight days in Russia with Transfiguration Church and SCBT was a deeply moving experience. I am so delighted with the brothers’ vision for publishing good books for Russian pastors. This is an extremely important ministry for the future generations. Also, the extensive biblical training being given to these men is extraordinary. I can recommend this ministry with no reservations. It is thoroughly Christ-centered, Scripture-centered, and church-centered. I call on churches everywhere to be praying for our dear brothers and sisters in Russia. God has blessed this ministry with outstanding men of God who have sacrificed all for the church in Russia.”
