For speaking out arrogant words of vanity they entice by fleshly desires, by sensuality, those who barely escape from the ones who live in error.
— 2 Peter 2:18 —

A father is a shepherd of his own home. He has been called to guide and nurture in love a small and precious flock. As part of his calling, he cannot ignore the great threat posited by fierce wolves who are eager to devour his little sheep. His task is to defend his family from the imminent threat. Peter warns his audience that false teachers are stalking their flocks, hoping to captivate the young believer with their arrogant, yet attractive words. Evil influences will not always knock at your door as obvious bearers of false teaching. They use boisterous language, flattery, and big promises to lure the weak into their traps. Today, your children may be the target of the treacherous system of this world. Boys and girls who are on their way to know Jesus Christ, or young converts in the faith are some of Satan’s favorite victims. Parents must be alert and drive away from their homes any influence that stinks of false teaching. Television, the internet, a tablet, or a close family member may be the open door into your home. These evil influences will not always knock at your door as obvious bearers of false teaching. The wisdom of this world and the excessive desire to satisfy lusts for fame, wealth, and power are threatening to enter your Christian home every day. Parents should exercise discernment and diligently filter out the enemy’s influence, which is designed to hinder the spiritual growth of our little disciples. Ask God for discernment and wisdom to recognize the inappropriate influences that are knocking at the door of your home. Be in tune with your family’s spiritual heartbeat and take time to nurture everyone in your care through prayer and meditation on the word of God.
