In love He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, which He freely bestowed on us in the Beloved.

Before the waters of the Indian Ocean licked Durban’s beach shores. Before the Drakensberg Mountains stood guard, like a barrier of spears, on the borders of KwaZulu Natal. Before the lion roared at the red sun setting over the thorny Acacia trees, and before the elephant traversed the vast savannahs. Dear friend, in the very depths of eternity past, God almighty, the sovereign Ancient of Days, thought of us (the church). Before the stars shone brightly in the seemingly endless depths of African skies, and before the hyena cackled in the night. Yes, before all of creation, before the foundations of the earth were laid, and before planets were hung on nothing. There, dear friend, in the very depths of eternity past, God almighty, the sovereign Ancient of Days, thought of us (the church). His thoughts were fixed on one particular plan. That plan is to adopt you and me, as sons and daughters, to become His children, and He did this out of His own love for us. It was His will that we would become His adopted children, bringing Him glory, showing His grace towards us, and presenting a gift that was freely given only to His beloved children. Adoption was God’s gift. Adoption is still His gift. Adoption for us, His beloved chosen church, has been carried out through the grand work of the King, our only Lord, Jesus Christ. Therefore, that plan of God has indeed come to pass, and we are the recipients of that plan and desire God had. Does this not fill you with wonder, my brother, my sister? Consider that you have a Father who desires to have a real relationship with you, whereby He calls you child, and you call Him Father. Amen.
