… so that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.
— Colossians 1:10 —

How is your prayer life? This question usually humbles believers when it is asked. Our prayer is often consumed with temporal requests for health, success, and physical blessing. Are you regularly praying for spiritual growth? Consider Paul’s words about prayer and even his recorded prayers. One reason we have his prayers recorded in Scripture is so we will follow his focus and heart. Paul prayed for the Colossians that they might walk in a manner worthy of the Lord to please Him. The prayer was not about the fleeting aspects of everyday life. How is your prayer life? He prayed for good works and increasing knowledge of God! Start to implement prayer requests of eternal things for yourself, your spouse, your children, and friends. But don’t stop there—Paul gave thanks and prayed regularly for believers he himself had never even met. Pray for the people in your congregation that they might bear fruit in every good work. Pray for the people group served by a missionary you know, that they might increase in the knowledge of God. Paul often told others that he was praying for them and specifically what he was praying for. Let someone you pray for know what you are thankful for and what you prayed for, and encourage him or her by that. Take time to pray! But also, take time to consider what to pray for. Pray that you would walk in a manner worthy of the Lord.
