For thus says the Lord, who created the heavens (He is the God who formed the earth and made it, He established it and did not create it a waste place, but formed it to be inhabited), “I am the Lord, and there is none else.”
— Isaiah 45:18 —

I once passed a house rendered uninhabitable due to visible cracks. Prior to construction, nobody had noticed how unstable the ground was. So, after a few years, the house was only fit for demolition. In this verse, Isaiah points to the reliable foundation of God’s word. Because God is the almighty Creator, He will do everything as promised. These words are spoken by the almighty Creator, God Himself. Some Christians may not see the need for a literal interpretation of the account of creation in Genesis 1 and 2, but Isaiah clearly states the opposite. A few verses earlier, God promises to bring back the captives of Israel by the hand of Cyrus, at a time long before Cyrus was even born! But what seemed unthinkable at the time was fulfilled word-for-word one hundred and seventy years later. Isaiah also refers to Israel’s future deliverance. Both promises are substantiated by the fact that God, the Creator, formed and established the earth, to be inhabited. Only when we place unconditional trust in the creation account, can we take all other biblical accounts at face value. Because God is the almighty Creator, He will do everything as promised. But if we question the credibility of the creation account, we will be like that derelict house. We won’t have a firm foundation and it’s only a matter of time before the credibility of God’s word will crack in other parts. “I am the Lord, and there is none else”!
