Love is kind.

What is kindness? Many understand it to mean being good, benevolent, and generous. But few realize it also involves doing good deeds to others. In other words, kindness is exhibiting goodness and benevolence in attitude and action. And this kindness, according to Paul, is a product of love. Considering this aspect of love, it is right to ask, how can kindness be shown? What do deeds of love look like in practice? Take stock today of your kindness. Is it only in attitude, but rarely in action? First, kindness is shown by a self-denying relationship with people around you. Love takes up the position of a servant and sets aside personal interests for the interest and needs of others. It genuinely prefers the good of others to your own. Second, kindness is shown in effective help. A loving person is prepared to help people practically. When we see a person in need, we can respond by either opening or closing our hearts to the person. We can act according to the principle: out of sight, out of mind. We allow ourselves to forget about the problem and more importantly, the person. Or, in opening our hearts, we can demonstrate love in deed and truth. This means we don’t forget the need or the person, and we try to help. If we ourselves cannot solve the problem, then we do our best to help find a solution. These are some ways kindness is shown. Take stock today of your kindness. Is it only in attitude, but rarely in action? Do you exhibit a self-denying relationship to others? Do you demonstrate effective help? The answer can reveal if you are showing love.
