And He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me.

Our society pretends to be strong. We want to do things in our own strength and we want to be trouble-free all the time. We want to remove weakness and suffering from our dictionaries. But the Bible draws a different picture. Long ago there was a group of people who spoke against the apostle Paul. Do you believe God’s grace is sufficient? They argued that he wasn’t a strong person, that he wasn’t one of the great speakers they knew, and that he was weak. Paul had to defend his apostleship and taught his opponents that he is a servant of Christ. He suffered in different ways in his ministry, and he even boasted about his weakness—because he knew that the power of Christ rested upon him in his weakness. He wrote that he is content in weakness, hardships, and persecution because he knew: When I am weak, then I am strong because Christ’s power dwells in me. We are often influenced in our daily life and ministry by society. We can think that we are strong in ourselves and able to do all things. But this is a lie! We fully depend on Christ. We need His strength and His wisdom. His grace is sufficient for us! This is one of the most beautiful and joyful principles for daily ministry. It’s not me nor my strength—it is Christ—and when I realize and accept the truth that I need Him and His grace every second of my life, then His power will be perfected in my weakness. Do you believe God’s grace is sufficient? Boast in your weakness and Christ’s power.
