God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in His Son.
— Hebrews 1:1-2 —

Many understand that God spoke in the past but have questions about whether He continues to speak today. In the past, God spoke in many ways, such as in dreams and visions. He would often speak in such ways to prophets, who would in return communicate what they had heard or seen. “Thus says the Lord” is a familiar refrain in the prophetic writings. But in these last days, God has done something even greater. If you want to hear from God, just open your Bible and listen, for He has spoken to us in His Son! He has spoken to us by His Son! A stark contrast is made between speech by prophets and speech by God’s Son, who is Himself the exact representation of God’s nature (Heb. 1:3). Jesus reveals God not merely as a prophet who speaks God’s word, but as the Son who is God’s Word. There is no clearer or more personal “speech” to mankind than the Word who was made flesh! The Bible is God’s inspired record of that message. It is the finished revelation of God in Christ Jesus. There is no water of revelation clearer than the crystal springs of Holy Scripture. By His Spirit, God will speak to us every day as we read His word, study it, meditate upon it, and apply it to our lives in specific and concrete ways. Many want God to show Himself in some other way—some angelic voice, prophetic vision, or heavenly sign—but as Jesus said to Philip, “He who has seen Me has seen the Father; how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?” (John 14:9). If you want to hear from God, just open your Bible and listen, for He has spoken to us in His Son!
