I delight to do Your will, O my God; Your Law is within my heart.
— Psalm 40:8 —

This is a truth for all of God’s children! When our hearts are filled with His word, our delight is to do His will. The Lord’s will is going to be our will. His delight is going to be our delight! Those who find delight in God’s will are cheerful and willing to obey all that God commands them. My grandmother recently gave her life to Christ and she was baptized. She is 65 years old and lived her life before as a Roman Catholic. Do you delight to do God’s will? … would you willingly subject yourself to His will? From time to time I read the Bible with her and we talk about the gospel. She always has the same reaction: tears of joy. She knows her name is written in the Book of Life. She is joyful and she now joyfully obeys God’s commands. She delights to do God’s will, and God’s Law is her joy. The greatest example is our Lord Jesus Christ. He always found delight in doing the will of His Father. He did not stay in a manger, nor stay in the Temple when teaching teachers. He did not stay on the mountain of transfiguration where His glory was shown. On the contrary, when the days were approaching for His ascension, He was determined to go to Jerusalem (Luke 9:51). Why? To die on the cruel cross in order to save those who are going to believe in Him, for the joy set before Him (Heb. 12:2). Do you delight to do God’s will? Consider this: If His will for your life is to die in a foreign place in order to bring the gospel to those who never heard it, would you willingly subject yourself to His will?
