Albania
The gospel first came to Albania (New Testament Illyricum) through Paul’s missionary efforts (Rom. 15:19). After decades of Catholic and then Islamic domination, in the 1940’s, communist dictator Enver Hoxha declared the nation atheistic, brutally wiping out all religion. When the regime collapsed in 1991, religious freedom returned and Islam took back its historic roots in the country. In a twist of irony, today TMAI’s member school is training pastors in the former home of the dictator who once persecuted Christians.
TODAY, PRAY FOR
- The church in Albania as it is made up of nearly all first-generation believers.
- More church leaders to be trained so that the church would be rooted and grounded on God’s word.
- The gospel to pierce through the deception and slavery of cultural and religious Islam.
