So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God’s household… Christ Jesus Himself being the corner stone, in whom the whole building, being fitted together, is growing into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you also are being built together into a dwelling of God in the Spirit.
— Ephesians 2:19–22 —

These great truths that the apostle Paul wrote to believers in Ephesus apply very concretely and poignantly to us believers in Albania. Not very long ago we were strangers, without God, without a witness for Him. This was because faith in God was strictly forbidden. Openly declaring your faith would have landed you in prison. The word of God was outlawed and so we lived in total spiritual darkness. But then at last the saving grace of God came to our country. The Scriptures are given to dictate what we should believe and how we should live. The light began to shine in this dark land and God’s word, which once was forbidden, is now available to all. Now that we are “fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God’s household,” this should motivate us to be built up and to build up each other upon the strong and sound foundation. Just because we now have the freedom to believe in Christ doesn’t mean that we are automatically protected from false teaching. The challenge before true Albanian believers is for the church to be built up upon sound teach- ing. We need the word of God to light our path. Only then will the church continue to declare God’s truth, be a solid witness before the unsaved, and give glory to God. The foundation of the apostles and prophets is the Bible. Only the Scriptures are given to dictate what we should believe and how we should live. Thank you, God, that we now have Your wonderful word here in Albania, and the freedom to worship You and to proclaim Your truth!
