In many countries around the world, gifted pastors haven’t been shown how to preach. Although they are called by God and commanded to train others (2 Tim 2:2), few of them have been trained themselves in how to explain the word from their pulpits. And unless something is done for them, the churches of tomorrow could wind up spiritually starved.
Thankfully, God is gracious, and He has shown His care for many of these leaders through your support of TMAI. Through you and our teams on the field, God has enabled men like Jessie in Asia to get the trustworthy training they need to better study the word and shepherd their flocks. See Jessie’s story below:
The Lord saved Pastor Jessie out of a drug addiction after someone shared the gospel with him and he surrendered his life to Christ.
The day that he was saved, Jessie prayed that he would live for the Lord for the rest of his days. He began going to church and involved himself in all the ministries he could. Jessie felt an emerging desire to preach but didn’t know how to do that. One day, a bible study leader was unable to come lead, so Jessie stepped up and shared God’s word. After that, he received positive feedback that he had a call to preach.
When TMAI came along, he was one of the first pastors to join. Despite some health and family challenges, he persevered and is on track to graduate with the second class in the spring of 2023. Through TMAI, Pastor Jessie learned how to deeply and accurately study the Bible, explain what it means, and show his church how to apply it in their lives. He now encourages the coming generation to make studying the word a priority.
“I had this thirst in my heart to study, to dig,” Jessie said, “but the problem was I didn’t know how. And to me—praise the Lord—[TMAI] is really an answered prayer. My desire was granted by the Lord through this ministry.”
“What I have in my heart is to encourage the new generations—especially in my church—that they would give their all in the study of the word, in this discipline, in the manner that they are teaching us.”
