You are those who have stood by Me in My trials.

It is said that a certain Roman soldier served his country for 40 years, fought in 120 battles, and was seriously injured 45 times. As spoils of war, he kept 83 gold coins, 70 bracelets, 18 gold spears, and 23 harnesses, all as bounty from his battles. During His three-and-a-half years of ministry, Jesus experienced many trials. His brothers did not believe in Him, His adversaries called Him the seed of Beelzebub, and He was ridiculed even by those who benefited from His miracles. There was a group of men, however, that remained faithful to Him. May God grant you the ability to stand firm to the end, and to be faithful to your Savior. No matter the persecution or how hard the battle, they fought through the trials, hardships, and suffering. They held firm to the call of their Lord, and when it came time to be recognized, they heard these words: “You are those who have stood by Me in My trials.” What recognition to be part of Jesus’ testimony! So I ask you, in the circumstances where you have been called to be faithful, will you be like that ancient Roman soldier, who gathered only the riches of this world, or like that group of faithful disciples, who gave up everything and stayed with Jesus through His trials? May God grant you the ability to stand firm to the end, and to be faithful to your Savior—for heavenly riches will be yours, both here and in eternity (Luke 22:29–30).
