But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
— Galatians 5:22-23 —

We all want to overcome sin and live a spiritually fruitful life. Many times, we devise strategies and make resolutions but fail to keep them. Prior to this passage, Paul tells us to keep walking in the Spirit because it is the Spirit that bears fruit in us: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. What a package of virtues! Think how each is displayed in full in our Lord Jesus Christ. Many churches in our region are carried away by charismatic excesses in looking for miraculous gifts. The Spirit only works in accordance with Scripture. They believe miraculous gifts are the means to have revival in the church and society. But we do not need miraculous gifts to have revival—we have the Spirit of God in us to produce the fruit that demonstrates Christlikeness. The church will be revived, and society will be impacted, when we bear this fruit by the Spirit. Remember, we cannot truly produce this fruit by ourselves. We must have the Spirit of God indwelling us to produce this fruit. And as He permanently dwells in a Christian, so we must continually walk in the Spirit so these virtues can be manifested. How can you walk in the Spirit and see Him bear fruit? Study the Scriptures to know and apply its truth in your life in every circumstance. The Spirit only works in accordance with Scripture. Remember also what Christ has done for you. He demonstrated all these virtues toward you in fullness while you were a wretched sinner. Show then His fruit today. Be kind to your neighbor. Show love to those infected with a selfish attitude. Bear much fruit for Christ!
