Central Africa Preaching Academy (CAPA), The Master’s Academy International’s member school in Malawi, recently graduated 41 pastors, including 16 graduates from its Masters of Divinity program. One of those M.Div. graduates was Medson Lima.
Medson completed his training at CAPA despite difficult circumstances. He traveled to the seminary on his unreliable bicycle, a trip that took him an hour and a half each way. He continued his training while also facing the demands of pastoring his small, village church. Yet, even with those challenges, Medson made it to graduation—as the valedictorian of CAPA’s first class of M.Div. graduates. Addressing his fellow graduates, Medson expressed his gratitude and exalted Christ. He said:
“I recognize that this day is not primarily for us to boast that we have made a remarkable achievement, but rather it is the day that humbles us in order to glorify God for what He has done to us in as far as the church in Malawi is concerned.
I thought my preaching was okay. But when I came to CAPA, I realized that what I had been preaching were all heresies. CAPA has helped me to handle the text faithfully through expository preaching. CAPA has also helped me to grow spiritually.
I remember before coming to CAPA, I was preaching in my church. I would allegorize every passage and said things that were not in the text, calling them revelations. I thought my preaching was okay. But when I came to CAPA, I realized that what I had been preaching were all heresies. CAPA has helped me to handle the text faithfully through expository preaching. CAPA has also helped me to grow spiritually.”
