Christ Seminary (a TMAI member school in South Africa) has been committed to equipping Africans to reach other Africans for 20 years. Over the past four years, that effort has included training Pastor Simon, a local pastor from Zimbabwe.
Simon has overcome corruption, lack of resources, and lack of transportation to travel frequently to Christ Seminary. He has overcome unpredictable access to electricity by using solar power for his laptop in order to write papers. He has overcome a language barrier to study God’s Word and read theological resources. Simon has endured these and more because of his love for God’s Word—he is committed to the biblical model of passing on Scriptural truth to other faithful churchmen.
This is a massive step in the ‘self-propagation’ of missions philosophy. Christ Seminary is now duplicating itself through an African vision created by Africans.
Recently, the Lord has blessed Simon’s faithfulness and labor by helping him launch Chief Shepherd Bible College (CSBC) in Chikombedzi, Zimbabwe—the first daughter school of Christ Seminary. Sixteen men enrolled in CSBC’s inaugural class, many of whom already serve as pastors in local churches. These men eagerly began their training with a Bible Overview class, in which they memorized the books of the Bible along with their outlines and major themes. Classes on English Proficiency, New Testament Survey, and Hermeneutics were also offered.
David Beakley, leader of Christ Seminary, said that the launch of this daughter school “is a massive step in the ‘self-propagation’ of missions philosophy. Christ Seminary is now duplicating itself through an African vision created by Africans.” It truly is an example of “entrusting these things to faithful men” (2 Tim. 2:2). Because of resources made available by TMAI and Crossway, Beakley presented Pastor Simon with a copy of Biblical Doctrine, the brand-new systematic theology from John MacArthur and Richard Mayhue. Pastor Simon has already begun creating training materials from this powerful resource.
