These days when Standa attends Bible study, he sits humbly, eager to learn. He’s unsure of the doctrines that he grew up learning and fears misleading others. This wasn’t always the case. Standa grew up in a church that emphasized non-biblical gifts and a spiritual encounter rather than biblical truth. He was a victim of man-centered teaching. Bible study at his old church wasn’t often marked by humble learning, rather it was filled with the misguided focus on personal experience. Thankfully, Standa’s eagerness to learn led him to the Czech Bible Institute (CBI), TMAI’s training center in the Czech Republic.
As Standa went through the Bible Survey and Biblical Counseling training available at CBI, the Lord began to reveal the truths of Scripture that he never learned in his previous church. He began to see that he’d been misguided by false teaching. Eventually the biblical truth he learned at CBI led him to leave his church for a church that places a priority on biblical exposition and discipleship. Not only did Standa leave false teaching behind; he also brought a group of friends and family with him so that they too could attend a church committed to teaching the Bible.

Now, Standa downloads sermons from CBI trained pastors and distributes them to friends still sitting under the false teaching he once sat under. He prays eagerly for more of them to see the errors of man-centered theology. And he sits in Bible study, humbly longing to learn from Scripture and have his beliefs aligned with the truth of God’s Word.
