Ukraine: Sound Theology for the Nation’s Children

A significant and critical benefit of bringing theological training to the nations is the impact it will have on a nation’s children. Sound theological education prepares pastors and church leaders to equip mothers and fathers to raise their children in the discipline and instruction of the Lord (Eph 6:4). It also prepares men and women to communicate biblical truths with clarity and power to young people, whether at church or in the community.

One graduate of Irpin Biblical Seminary (Ukraine) has recently been given unique opportunities in his community to impact children for the sake of Christ. On top of his normal pastoral duties at church, Igor teaches young people at a Christian public school twice a week. He has taken the opportunity to teach them what is truly “elementary,” or foundational to all understanding—that the Bible is the very Word of God and that Jesus is the Savior of the world. He also teaches about the church, prayer, family, and the folly of macroevolution.

Igor writes, “I have four Bible lessons for secondary school and four for high school; and I’m very grateful to serve in this way. Teaching young people in our community about Christ brings me great joy. Thank you for your prayers and support. We really appreciate it!”

Igor’s faithfulness in life and doctrine has also opened up opportunities to lead the teachers through the book of James and to provide biblical counseling for troubled students. These opportunities remind us of the vital importance of sound theological education. Navigating these profound issues with young people and teachers in public school requires great wisdom and clarity of thought.

This is what we at TMAI love to see from the graduates—an earnest zeal in fulfilling our Lord’s Great Commission, even in following His example as teachers of children.
