Japan Training Ministry Update

An important announcement from the TMAI Board of Directors regarding the Hamadera Bible Institute in Japan:

After much prayer and consultation, a mutual decision has been made by the leadership of Hamadera Bible Institute and the TMAI Board of Directors to close HBI. We are grateful for the faithfulness in ministry of Pastor Shuji Kondo and his congregation in hosting HBI. With his support, a new endeavor for training leaders in Japan is underway. Led by former HBI faculty member Daisuke Okada, a team of three Master’s Seminary graduates is developing an exciting new training ministry in Japan.

This summer saw the launch of Japan Bible Academy (Nihon Seisho Gakuin), which offers lay-level module classes through local churches as part of a certificate program and for audit. Seven churches in strategic locations throughout Japan are already partnering with Japan Bible Academy to host classes, and twenty-one students have already enrolled at one of these sites alone. A seminary-level pastoral training program is under development and, Lord willing, will begin in a few years after members of the team finish their post-graduate and doctoral studies.

We are excited about what the Lord will do through this new strategy and this dedicated team. We look forward to considering the possibility of Japan Bible Academy joining the TMAI family once the minimum of two years of operation and other requisite TMAI benchmarks have been achieved. In the meantime, please note that TMAI will no longer be soliciting or receiving donations for Hamadera Bible Institute. Please be in prayer regarding these strategic ministry plans.
