Prayer Update – May 15, 2013

“The steps of a man are established by the Lord;
And He delights in his way.
When he falls, he shall not be hurled headlong;
Because the Lord is the One who holds his hand.”
Psalm 37: 23-24

Dear Praying Friends,

Please remember to pray for these upcoming conferences:

  • SCBT (Russia) – 11th annual Preachers’ Conference, May 19 – 21
  • IBS (Ukraine) – Pastor’s Conference, May 23 – 24
  • Berea (Spain) – two conferences coming up May 31–June 2 and June 7-9.
  • TSBC (New Zealand) – Impact Bible Conference, May 30 – June 3

The recent ITA (Italy) sponsored “Preach the Word” conference in Rome was well received by more than 100 attendees. There was a unified reaffirmation of the priority of preaching the Word and a strong desire to continue these conferences in the future for encouragement and accountability amid difficult days for the church in Italy. God graciously provided the finances for the conference and the translation/publication of the book “Slave” which was given to the attendees. Thank you for praying for this need and continue to uphold these church leaders as they strive to be true to God’s Word in their respective places of ministry.

Thank the Lord for the opportunities God has provided for students from IBS (Ukraine) to study abroad. A group of Master’s students recently visited Philippi, Thessaloniki, Corinth and Athens while studying the book of Philippians. Another group will be traveling to Berlin for two advanced courses by renowned apologist James White.

Professor Dowdy from WGBS (Mexico) recently completed the second of 4 separate weeks of teaching in El Salvador with a group of 12 church leaders there. Pray for these men as they absorb and apply the teaching of God’s Word to their own ministries especially when it means changing old ways of thinking and preaching. Pray for humble, teachable hearts for the students and for wisdom for those teaching and mentoring them.

IDEX (Spanish ministry – U.S.) is experiencing a greater interest in their program than they can accommodate at this time. Thank the Lord for this evidence of hunger to learn on the part of church leaders in Spanish-speaking churches. There are currently nearly 200 students, representing over 100 different churches and nearly 25 different denominations enrolled in courses. Pray that they would become increasingly grounded in their convictions, basing them on a true understanding of God’s Word.

With thankfulness for you!
